A personal note from Kyla Vines'
Hello all! I am so excited to be opening my own practice. I will have two locations where I see people. One in Arley and one in Cullman. I am very excited to be servicing Winston county as there is a lack of providers in this rural area. I feel like counseling is my life's calling. I would like to introduce myself to everyone!
My name is Kyla Holly Vines. I am 34 years old and I am married to a wonderful man. We have 5 sons that we raise. We adopted two of them recently as teenagers. I have a special place in my heart for adoption. We live in Arley, Alabama. I am an Associate Licensed Counselor in the state of Alabama. I hold a Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice from Faulkner University. I also hold a Masters degree in Counseling from Faulkner University. I have been a counselor since 2016. I am fairly new to counseling but not to help others.
Before I became a counselor I was an EMT. I also served in the U.S Army Active and the Alabama Army National Guard. I was proud to serve as an Army medic. I loved the military but after a deployment to Iraq I did not want to leave my sons again so when my time ended I did not re-enlist. I loved working on the ambulance as well serving others. I got my degree in Criminal Justice with the intention to go to law school. I was praying about it and felt the Lord directing me to pursue counseling so I enrolled in graduate school and earned my degree while raising a family. I understand first hand the stress of raising a family, being unsure of the direction in life, and in dealing with stress and trauma.
I feel like though I may be fairly new to counseling I am not new in understanding issues that people face that are sometimes overwhelming. I can relate to my clients who have experienced trauma, divorce, stress, family troubles, and the stormy seas of life. I choose a person-centered approach to counseling where I will work with each of my clients to find a treatment modality that is tailored to fit them. I do not believe that one style of counseling fits all. I prefer to use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy/ Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy but again I tailor it to fit the unique needs of the client. CBT/REBT therapy places a focus on how our thoughts directly affect our feelings which affect our actions. When we become aware of our thoughts we can change them, changing the way we feel and becoming healthier happier people.
I have a passion for working within the family. I offer individual, family and couples counseling. I believe in harnessing the power that we have within us for life change. I work within Addiction Disorders, Eating Disorders, Adjustment Disorders, Career guidance counseling, adoptions, sexual abuse, trauma, pre marital counseling, marital counseling, grief counseling as well as working with adolescents and the many issues that they face. I see clients starting at age 12. I use a christian approach to counseling. I believe all life is a gift from God that should be enjoyed to the fullest.
You are the captain of your boat. Sometimes when that boat is tossed around on the seas of life that job can seem overwhelming. I visualize myself as a compass here to guide you to calm sunny seas.
